Pathom Sawanpanyalert is a medical doctor with a doctor degree in public health (DrPH). He is currently serving as the Deputy Secretary General of the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand.
Before joining Thai FDA, he was active in the field of epidemiological methods, infectious diseases, and laboratory investigations of diseases surveillance and outbreak investigation. He was the head of Thailand delegation to the WHO to discuss sharing of virus and benefits from such sharing of influenza virus.
He also chaired the WHO-appointed Advisory Group for Global Action Plan for Influenza Vaccine until last year. He is now overseeing all regulatory affairs related to drugs and narcotics at the Thai FDA.
He is also an active member and founder of several non-profit organizations in Thailand, including Field Epidemiologists' Association of Thailand, TB/HIV Research Foundation, Genetic Diseases Foundation of Thailand, Foundation for Medical Sciences Department of Thailand.
