The Global Microbial Identifier (GMI) Proficiency Test 2017 has been launched, and you can sign-up from now until 9 June 2017.

What is the GMI Proficiency Test?

This inter-laboratory performance test is provided to facilitate harmonization and standardization in whole genome sequencing and data analysis, with the aim to produce comparable data. The proficiency test (PT) represents an important tool for the evaluation and production of reliable laboratory results of consistently good quality within the area of DNA preparation, sequencing, and analysis (e.g. clustering).

The GMI PT 2017 is supported by COMPARE, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 643476. In addition, the GMI PT 2017 is supported by FDA GenomeTrakr.

To accomplish this task efficiently, the GMI network is now opening the GMI PT 2017 which covers next-generation sequencing with a focus on the analysis of Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Sign-up for the GMI PT 2017 is now open. Please follow the link to the GMI PT 2017 page (http://www.globalmicrobialidentifier.org/Workgroups/About-the-GMI-Proficiency-Test-2017) to find more information about the PT and to sign-up to participate (sign-up deadline 9 June 2017).

If you have any questions about the GMI PT 2017, you are welcome to address them to Susanne Karlsmose Pedersen (suska@food.dtu.dk).
